Rasul vs. Nabi

There seems to be some confusion about the words "Rasul" and "Nabi" as used in Quran. According to Shafi Usmani in Ma'arful Quran (vol. 6, p. 42), Rasul is one who brings a new shariat to his nation.

Nabi, on the other hand may or may not have a new shariat but they are "sahib-e-wahi" which means they get divine revelations.

So Rasul can be translated as messenger and nabi as prophet.
